CAVE SHEPHERD REPORTS SUCCESSFUL BRIDAL EXPO

THE third Cave Shepherd Bridal Expo held last month was a success and the department store, along with other participants, have recorded increased business and registrations.

Manager of the Bridal and Gift Registry at Broad Street, Angie Gittens, noted at the presentation of special prizes, to some of the couples who registered during the Expo, that the interest in companies displaying product, has also increased this year.

"This year's showcase was twice the size of last year's as we incorporated the entire store into the event and also had more companies participating and displaying their wedding apparel and offerings. As a result, we had a better package offering and saw an increase in the number of couples that signed up for our registry, doubling the figures from last year," Gittens said.

Kim Tatem, event planner with Duty Free Caribbean, holding company of Cave Shepherd, said they were extremely pleased with the success of the event: "For the first time this year we held a cocktail reception for our registered couples and it was a rousing success".

"We have already started planning for next year and will be looking at including additional service providers and we hope to incorporate other areas which are key aspects to wedding planning, at our 2010 Expo," she added.

Marian Fedee, managing director of Special Occasions, one of the companies taking part in the showcase from inception said: "I have been very pleased with the results over the years and have gained a number of new customers, especially this year. Additionally, it also gives us the opportunity to interact and share ideas with the other service providers in this field."

Fedee's company was among those presenting prizes to couples, like surprised bride-to-be, Keisha Broomes and her fiance Dwayne Brown, who won a bridal basket.

Broomes stated: "Cave Shepherd's Bridal Registry treated us with so much care and patience. They spent hours helping us make decisions on what we wanted and they were really gracious. So I can say this was the right decision. We are also going to enjoy this basket from Special Occasions because it will help us to save money on a few things."

Other winners included Nicole Firgus and David Hinds, who won a bridal shower, compliments of Marketfive by John Hazzard, Cassandra Allamby and Marlon Taylor, who won a designer bridal dress from Special Occasions and Tamra Ramsay and Corey Boyce, who will be spending a three-day all-inclusive weekend for two at Coconut Court.

These winners, along with other couples who register at Cave Shepherd up to December 31, will also be eligible for the Bridal Lottery, where they can win the value of their bridal gift list in Cave Shepherd cash or a weekend for two at The Crane.
