PAGES' BEN THE BOOKWORM TO INSPIRE CHILDREN FOR READING FEST 2009

BEN, the Bookworm will be inspiring children around the island to read more, as Pages' Bookstores joins the Kiwanis Club of Barbados Central in celebrating Reading Fest 2009, this month.

A staple of Child Month for the third straight year, the collaboration is set to attract hundreds of children to Pages' various locations each Saturday for special readings and reenactments of their favourite stories.

Michael Maloney, operations manager for Pages, said that they were excited to be working with the Kiwanis again this year and the addition of Ben was sure to be a hit with the children.

"The Reading Fest is an event we look forward to each year and so do the children. Mascots like Ben, the Bookworm make it so much more interesting and exciting for the children. In a very real way we are attempting to improve reading and revive the interest of our young people in books," added Maloney.

Reading Fest which began on May 9, will continue at Pages, West Coast Mall, Holetown, St. James on May 16; then go to Pages at JB's Supermarket, Sargeant's Village on May 23 and conclude at Pages, SuperCentre Warrens on May 30.
