RACHEL MANLEY BOOK SIGNING AT PAGES VISTA
Michael Manley, will be at Pages Bookstore, Cave Shepherd Vista, Worthing on April 2nd at 5 p.m. for a public signing of her book Horses In Her Hair.
Manley's book, which pays tribute to her family, chronicles the life of her grandmother, Edna Manley and the contribution she made to the development of the arts in Jamaica.
The book signing is the fourth in a series with renowned writers at Pages and events planner with Duty Free Caribbean, Kim Tatem noted that the book gives insight into the world of the Manleys, especially the legacy of Edna Manley: "This book is quite similar to Rachel Manley's other writings and is a work of art in its own right.
"Horses In Her Hair gives you a clear look at some of the motivations of Edna Manley, who is highly regarded in Jamaica's history. It tells of her love for Jamaica and her desire to leave a tangible and indelible mark that would benefit the people of this country she adopted as her own," she said.
Tatem explained that although Manley's book speaks of life in Jamaica, it is the type of writing that resonates with all Caribbean people and can even serve as inspiration to get involved in the community.
"We are hosting this singing with Rachel Manley at Pages next week because we believe that the life of Edna Manley can be a lesson to our readers as well, regardless of their origins.
"This book singing is also in keeping with Pages Bookstores' pledge to familiarise its customers with quality authors in an attempt to give deeper insights into their lives, inspirations for their writings and to give greater and personal exposure to their works, Tatem added.
Pages Bookstores' various outlets have hosted book signings by legendary cricketer Sir Garfield Sobers with his book Garry Sobers: My Autobiography; physician Laurens Mass with The Hidden Cure and international entertainer Sir Cliff Richard with My Life, My Way.
