WORLD'S GREATEST CRICKETER SIGNS BOOKS AT PAGES

CAVE SHEPHERD customers will get a treat tomorrow, Wednesday, February 25, when Pages Bookstore hosts a book signing sermon with Barbados cricket legend, Sir Garfield Sobers.

He will be on hand from 10 a.m. at the Broad Street store, signing his book Garry Sobers: My Autobiography, which was ghost written by journalist Bob Harris and examines Sir Garry's history and gives an assessment of modern cricket and its progression.

Event planner, Kim Tatem remarked that in addition to signing Sir Garry will also reflect on his life in the sport and answer questions from avid fans and readers in the store.

She added: "Sir Garry is one of our national heroes and still the greatest cricketer in the world and an opportunity like this to meet him, ask him questions and get an autographed copy of his book, does not come around very often.

"Now that we are in the cricket season, there will be a lot of persons here visiting for the test series and many locals as well who would have heard of him but never had the opportunity to meet him and we feel honoured to be able to provide them with that experience," said Tatem.

She noted that for the next three months Cave Shepherd and Pages will be bringing authors into the store for similar events including Laurens Maas with The Hidden Cure on March 4; Sir Cliff Richard with My Life My Way and Rachel Manley's Horses In Her Hair.

"Our patrons know they can depend on Pages Bookstore to bring them books and authors of note. It is our way of encouraging people to read and to get to know the writers they look up to for good literary works. As this is cricket time, it makes sense to introduce them to a great cricketing legend as well as his work of art," she stated.
