HAROLD HOYTE INTRODUCES NEW BOOK IN PAGES BOOKSTORE

LOCAL author and renowned journalist, Harold Hoyte, will join a number of impressive Barbadian and Caribbean authors at the Home Grown Writers Series this Thursday in Pages Bookstore, Cave Shepherd, as he features his newest book, "Wunnah Like Dah Nuh!"

Hoyte, retired publisher, now editor emeritus of the Nation Newspaper, will bring the curtain down on a month of activities with his book which chronicles some of his funnier moments and musings.

Similar to his previous, well-received and successful book entitled "How To Be A Bajan", "Wunnah Like Dah Nuh!" is a humorous compilation, comprising a number of stories including Ode to Peter, Family Matters and Piece of My Mind, to name a few.

Operations manager with Pages Bookstores, Michael Maloney, declared the month-long event a success, adding that they were delighted with the response to the authors' works displayed.

"It would be hard to find a better way to end the Home Grown Writers Series than on a note of humour with one of the nation's brightest minds. Harold Hoyte is a man that captivates with his intellect, use of language and of course his engaging humour.

"Wunnah Like Dah Nuh! is a piece of literature that Bajans from all walks of life can relate to and enjoy and so far it has done wonderfully in our Pages Bookstores. It is exactly the kind of work best suited for the audience our Series has attracted and the response has been fabulous. We are extremely pleased with the reception to these local and regional works," said Maloney.

The Writers Series began on July 3 with Leroy Straker and Herbert Reifer and continued with former Miss World Jennifer Hosten on July 10. Astra Babb and Michael Presley were the featured authors on July 17, while the works of cultural icon Addington Forde and Alvin Cummins' political fiction "The Royal Palms Are Dying" took centre stage last Thursday.
